New Super Mario Bros. Converse Chuck Taylor Sneakers!
We already told you about a cool new line of Super Mario Bros. Converse sneakers coming down the pipe, and now there are two more styles headed our way! While Super Mario Bros. can be found for the modern Nintendo Wii and the DS system, there was nothing quite like the original game that came with the clunky 80s Nintendo console. The graphics would be considered laughable now, but at the time Super Mario Bros. was considered a totally modern innovation.
The most recent collaboration between Converse and Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. has just been released, and these ones are awesome! The new Super Mario Bros. Converse Chuck Taylor sneakers come in two styles: a bright blue canvas upper featuring a screen shot from the game, and a black pair dotted with red Mario Brothers. Both pairs featured the cute star (remember, it gave you invincibility for 15 seconds in the game?) on the rubber tab on the back heel of the shoe, rather than the original Chuck Taylor star.

The Hideout x Converse Collection 2011
The popular London street fashion brand Hideout is collaborating with Converse for a new twist on the iconic Chuck Taylor All Star shoes. The limited edition collection for Fall 2011 features both high-top and low-top versions of the Chuck Taylor All Stars. Chuck Taylor’s are one of the top-selling shoes of all time, so it’s no surprise that they are continuously used for collaborations.
The low-top versions of the Hideout x Converse Chuck Taylors feature heavy duty duck canvas uppers, while the high-top is suave in all suede. You have your choice of white or burgundy low top canvas, or black high top suede. The best part about these unique Chuck Taylor’s is the detailing: things like triple-needle fabrication, contrasting canvas heel stripes with stitched leather overlay detailing and a black license plate logo on the heel.
Because Hideout is a brand well known for their utility-styled goods, these simple, rugged shoes fit perfectly with the brand’s work-wear inspired look.

Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Shoes
Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star shoes have been a staple of American and Canadian society for almost 100 years! In 1917, Marquis M. Converse and the Converse Rubber Shoe company in Malden, Massachusetts, launched the first Converse All Star line. They were instantly popular: inexpensive, easily available, and durable.
It wasn’t until 1921, when Charles “Chuck” Taylor, a high school basketball player on his way up in the sports world, joined the corporate team as a salesman. He redesigned the All Star, adding the now-famous ankle patch to the basketball shoe. In 1930 Converse stamped Chuck’s name on the All Star patch, making it his signature model – although he is one of the only basketball players not to receive royalties for his endorsement!
While Converse shoes were originally popular among athletes, as other shoe companies began to grab their market share, they were seen less and less on the basketball court. However, Converse started to become a fashion statement among celebrities. James Dean was one of the first stars to be seen in a pair of Converse Chuck Taylor All Star shoes. Over the years, numerous celebs have been spotted wearing them: Joey Ramone, Kurt Cobain, and Ben Affleck, just to name a few.
Converse’s most popular-selling shoe hasn’t stayed static over the years, either. The company has collaborated with high-end menswear designer John Varvatos and Comme des Garçons for new All Star offerings, sported superhero logos like Superman, gone purple with an ankle strap, added Velcro for the kids’ Converse Chuck Taylor All Star shoes, and much more. The All Star shoes have also varied in height, from the standard low top to the high top to the current X-Hi style.
There are literally hundreds of colours and styles of the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star shoe to choose from. These lightweight-yet-sturdy shoes fit into every lifestyle, and All Stars have stood the test of time from decade to decade. But, they have also been updated and modernized enough to remain in the height of fashion, year after year.

Missoni Collaborates with Converse for Fall 2010
It doesn’t seem like a whole year ago that Italian knitwear brand Missoni collaborated with Converse on a line of Chuck Taylor shoes. The effort was so successful that Missoni is back again with the iconic zig-zag print for fall 2010.
Last years Missoni Converse Chuck Taylor shoes featured the same bold geometric print as this years, but instead of the warm beiges, browns, blues and grays of last year, they’ve stuck to black and white. While last year’s design was influenced by Indian patchwork and rich fall colours, this year’s Missoni shoe is much more sleek and chic, and a little more subtle. The inner lining and tongue is made of tanned brown leather, with a license plate logo at the heel, with the classic white vulcanized sole and traditional Converse patch.
The release date isn’t set yet, but rumour has it that the new Missoni Converse Chuck Taylor shoes will be out sometime in November. You’ll pay more for these designer Converse than you will for a pair of casual Chucks – around $200. The shoes will mostly be available at select Missoni stores throughout North America.

A Brand New Look for Converse by John Varvatos: Chuck Taylor All-Star Multi Eyelets
The renowned menswear fashion designer John Varvatos has been collaborating with Converse for ages. His latest look is especially eye-catching because it’s so different from the classic Converse shoe we’ve all grown accustomed to seeing. The Chuck Taylor Multi-Eyelet hightops are made of a faded black canvas, with a rubber toe. The standout feature of the Chuck Taylor Multi-Eyelet hightops are the nearly 30 eyelets on either side, running all the way up the shoe.
Ever since Chuck Taylor’s came onto the court way back in 1917, they’ve been a favourite among athletes and the general Converse-loving population. It’s funny that a style of Converse shoes that were not all that popular until basketball player Chuck Taylor started wearing them went on to become the top-selling style of Cons.
The benefit of the Chuck Taylor Multi-Eyelet hightops is that they keep with the classic basketball court fashion. But, because Varvatos designed them to be more chic and unique, they’re fashionable enough for guys looking for something a bit more refined than the regular canvas Chucks. The Chuck Taylor Multi-Eyelet hightops are a vintage style with a modern twist, and they’re good to go with jeans or a dress jacket.
