BEAMS x Dr. Martens 7-Hole Wingtip Boot
Just in time for the chilly winter weather, Dr. Martens is releasing a new 7-hole wingtip boot. The new style is a collaboration between Dr. Martens and BEAMS, a Japanese department store that was established in 1976. BEAMS sells clothing under the BEAMS brand, as well as a number of other brands. Some of the BEAMS department stores are extremely large: over 7 floors with hundreds of products such as furniture, clothing, shoes, and accessories.
BEAMS and Dr. Martens previously collaborated on a black 7-hole boot that became very popular. Apparently the shoe was such a big seller that they’re back with a new 7-hole version. This time, the BEAMS x Dr. Martens have teamed up to do a dark brown wingtip boot that looks both rugged and sleek. Because the outer sole is sturdy and waterproof, it will be perfect for walking in rain and snow.

How to Care for Dr. Martens Boots
When it comes to cleaning canvas shoes, you may be able to toss them in the washing machine or treat stains with a damp washcloth. However, when you’re caring for Dr. Martens, you need to take more care to avoid damaging the leather. One way to ensure that your Dr. Martens will last for years is to clean them once every other month. Here’s how to properly care for Dr. Martens:
Before you clean your Dr. Martens, remove the shoe laces. Rinse them in warm water and use a little mild detergent if they’re dirty. Lay them flat to dry.
Use an all-purpose shoe cleaner (available at your local shoe store) safe and suitable for leather to wipe off the dirt and grime. Meltonian All Purpose Shoe Cleaner Conditioner is great as it helps condition the leather as you clean.
Use an old rag to wipe petroleum jelly on your Dr. Martens to protect from rain and to add shine. Gently rub the petroleum jelly in and make sure to remove any excess.
Use a clean, soft towel or even a pair of pantyhose to polish your Dr. Martens.

Zouk x Dr. Martens First Exhibition
Today Dr. Martens is holding a First Exhibition with Zouk, an extremely popular club in Singapore. Zouk is known for leading the youth dance culture in Singapore, and October 7th marks their 20th anniversary. The Zouk x Dr. Martens First Exhibition brings together 20 names in Singapore’s contemporary culture, who have all designed their own versions of the 1461 3-Eye.
What’s even better is that the shoes will then go up for auction, with all proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which grants wishes for seriously ill children. The shoes will be up for auction at Ebay Zouk until October 13th,
but before they go to their new owners, they’ll be displayed at various shops around Singapore. Some of the designers of the unique Dr. Martens 1461 3-Eye boots are:
- Phunk Studio
- Darker Than Wax
- Caracal
- Shinichi Osawa
- Syndicate
- Leftfoot

Underground x Dr. Martens Fall/Winter 2011 Collection
We don’t see collaborations between Dr. Martens and other companies too often; it’s more a tactic of skate shoe companies like Vans and Converse. However, this season Dr. Martens has teamed up with Underground, the well-known fashion company out of London. Dr. Martens previously collaborated with Underground to create a military-style boot.
This season’s Underground x Dr. Martens line is more edgier, using the classic 1460 boot but incorporating studs to the design. These Dr. Martens boots have a thick band of leather at the ankle, covered with these silver studs, making for an eye-catching detail that nods to the boot company’s early skinhead following.
In the early days of Docs, non-racist skinheads and punks in the UK began sporting the boots, which had been worn mostly as work boots. As Dr. Martens spread in popularity, they were worn by people in all sorts of subcultures, but are associated mostly with their earliest adopters. It’s nice to see a new Dr. Martens boot that retains the classic appeal but modernizes it enough to appeal to the masses.

Dr. Martens Paisley Pack for Fall 2011
In keeping with the colourful patterns and styles that are emerging for fall 2011, it’s no surprise that Dr. Martens has released a cheerful Paisley Pack. The 60s have been a huge influence on this year’s styles, with styles from one of the best-loved eras popping up on the runways and in stores everywhere. These 60s-inspired men’s or women’s Dr. Marten’s are sure to turn heads, as they feature a bold burst of colours and crazy paisley patterns.
The Dr. Martens Paisley Packs comes in two patterns: a more subtle beige and brown with hints of yellow, or a brilliant cherry red accented with blue. You can choose from the Jeffrey (updated 8-Eyelet Boots) or the Octavius (updated 4-Eyelet Shoe).
Unlike regular Dr. Martens which are etched, the psychadelic patterns are painted on leather. Check out some stunning photos on Dr. Martens Paisley Pack.
Of course, if these colourful creations are a bit too over-the-top for you, you can find classic Dr. Martens in shades like burgundy, grey and black.

Dr. Martens Sharp Classics Collection
If you’ve seen earlier previews of Dr. Martens fall collection, then you know that the line largely features British-inspired saddle shoes and wingtips. Dr. Martens has just released a sneak peek at their Sharp Classics collection, which is quite similar to the other shoes and boots we’ll be seeing on store shelves this fall.
Dr. Martens has managed to remain an iconic brand among diehard 10 and 14-hole enthusiasts while also reinventing itself with sleek lines such as the Sharp Classics collection. This line of Dr. Martens is crafted from high quality materials and comes in rich colours like chocolate and burgundy. In the Dr. Martens Sharp Classics collection worth noting are the Langston Lace Boot, Adrian Tassel, and the Brogue Shoe. Dr. Martens Classic English Lineup
It looks like Dr. Martens is introducing a classic English feel into their upcoming collection of shoes and boots. It makes since that there is such a strong British influence to this year’s lineup of Docs; London was where their popularity really took off, worn by the punks and skinheads (not the Neo-Nazi kind).
For fall 2011, Dr. Martens shoes and boots are quite different than their core range. There are the Dr. Martens Brook and Corin styles for the ladies, with a low cut for a feminine look – modern, yet still retaining the Dr. Martens classic silhouettes. Wear with: dresses or jeans.
Another ladies Dr. Martens for fall: the stunning Zita line, which are high fashion, high heeled boots and shoes with fine gold eyelets. These ultra-feminine women’s Dr. Martens are also geared for maximum comfort, with a non-slip grooved sole. Wear with: dresses, skirts or business clothing.
The Sovereign collection is for the guys and the girls, made of tanned leather with a leather insole, with detailed finishing and upper stitching. Wear with: jeans or tweed.

Dr. Martens Langley Windsor Boots
One of the highlights of Dr. Martens summer 2011 collection is definitely the Langley Windsor boot. The entire Dr. Martens summer line is updated, offering shoppers a something different look than the traditional boot. The Dr. Martens Langley Windsor boot fits with many other footwear styles we’re seeing this fall, which are similar to the chukka boot that we see from numerous brands each season. It’s not meant for the warmer months, but come fall, this sturdy yet soft boot will look great with sweaters and corduroys.
The Dr. Martens Langley Windsor boot is a lightweight and comfortable desert boot, with a number of modernizations. While a classic desert boot is made of suede, the Langley Windsor boot is made of formed canvas with double laces. Of course, the Dr. Martens Langley Windsor boot has the signature Airwair soles and white Docs tag on the heel.
Choose between distinctive blue, grey, and brown Dr. Martens Langley Windsor boot with contrasting white trim – perfect for a casual fall outfit or something slightly more formal.

Creating Custom Doc Martens
When you think of Doc Martens, you may not think of unique designs, but tough black boots or cherry red Mary Janes. However, some people do choose custom Doc Martens, giving them a unique look that can be as pretty or punk as they want.
Store Bought Custom Doc Martens
You can choose to buy custom Doc Martens from a retailer. While the Dr. Martens company does not make custom footwear, there are several online stores where you can order up any design you’d like, or choose from custom Doc Martens on display. Last year, Japanese designer Nozomi Ishiguro created a collection of “modified” Dr. Martens, using various kinds of studs to give the boots a rocker edge.
Do-It-Yourself Custom Doc Martens
If you’re confident you’re crafty enough to customize your own Dr. Martens, this is a great way to ensure you have a one-of-a-kind pair. We’ve told you about customizing Vans shoes, but these techniques can’t be used on leather Dr. Martens. To customize your Doc Martens, you can use studs or spikes, or paint your boots with a cool design. However, do not just start painting your Docs! There are special types of paint made specifically for leather, so inquire at your local craft suppy store for some advice before you start.

Put a Spring in Your Step! Dr. Martens Spring 2011 Releases
While many shoe companies debut a few new styles every seasons, Dr. Martens has really gone that extra mile and is releasing a number of stylish, casual and comfortable shoes for the 2011 spring/summer season. One of this season’s collections is called the Duple pack, and these Dr. Martens saddle shoes and wingtips are available in a variety of designs and colourways. It’s great to see Doc Martens continuously stepping out from the ordinary, and not just sticking to their tried and true classic boots and shoes in different shades and patterns.
Choose from a basic black, beige and white or chocolate brown and white Doc Martens wingtip and saddle shoe. Each shoe in the Duple collection features the comfy air-cushioned sole we’ve come to love (and expect!) from our Docs. Instead of the black outsole we consistently see on Doc Martens, the Duples have a bold brick red outsole that gives them a unique look that stands out from your everyday Oxford or saddle shoe.
The 2011 Duple Doc Martens are available in stores now! Check out some photos here.
Another great release from Doc Martens this spring: A cool lineup of work wear-inspired apparel, including button-down and denim shirts, cotton tees and sweat shirts.
