A New Vans x Yo Gabba Gabba Collaboration!
It’s time for another Vans x Yo Gabba Gabba collaboration! We wrote a blog post on the earlier collaboration between this fun kids show and the classic sneaker company. Now, we have a Vans x Yo Gabba Gabba collection just in time for the holiday season.
Yo Gabba Gabba skyrocketed to popularity in 2007, and now has a huge following. The show features host DJ Lance Rock and his cartoonish character friends Muno, Foofa, Brobee, Toodee and Plex. The Yo Gabba Gabba group performs lively musical segments and animated sketches. There is now a great deal of Yo Gabba Gabba merchandise, the group tours regularly, and the show continues to be a huge success.
The new Vans x Yo Gabba Gabba collection features the faces of the entire crew. Kids can even colour the box to make it their own (we think lots of kids will have more fun with the packaging with the shoes)!
The new Vans x Yo Gabba Gabba shoes will be available in toddler sizes, kids and even adult sizes!

How to Clean Vans Shoes
Vans are an incredibly popular shoe – almost everyone you know has likely owned or currently owns a pair of these iconic sneakers. Whether you’re skateboarding at the park in your Vans shoes or you’re walking to and from school in them, they’re going to get dirty. So, how can you clean your Vans shoes? Here are some easy tips:
Canvas Vans
- Put your Vans shoes in the washing machine. Use a mild laundry detergent such as Woolite and set the temperature to cold or warm (not hot) so you don’t damage the fabric.
- Start the wash cycle. Your Vans shoes may thump around – don’t be alarmed! This won’t harm your washing machine.
- Once the cycle has finished, put your Vans on a towel on the floor to dry. If it’s sunny, put them outside. Don’t put your Vans shoes in the dryer.
Suede Vans
- You can’t put suede Vans shoes in the washing machine. First, rub off any dirt with a dry paper towel.
- Use a small amount of suede cleaner (available at shoe stores) on a cloth or sponge and gently rub your Vans shoes. Repeat this process until stains are gone.
- Place your suede Vans shoes on a towel on the floor to dry, or outside if it’s sunny.

Vans Surf Collection 2011: Two Unique Styles
It’s summertime and the surf’s up! Well, depending on where you live…but whether the ocean is in your backyard or you have to travel to get to the beach, you’ll look stylish in a pair of sweet shoes from the Vans Surf collection. We previously told you about two new releases this summer – the Bali and the Distressed E-Street – in a previous post. Let’s take a peek at two styles from the Vans Surf collection that are not what you’d expect from the iconic shoe company:
The Rata Vulc Hemp collection: Hemp has come onto the scene in a big way in the past few years, as people become more eco-conscious about the materials they’re wearing. You’ve got your choice of three colourways: black hemp/white, charcoal grey hemp/white and black hemp/lemon chrome/gum.
The Vans Delaney: One line that’s definitely new to the Vans Surf collection this year is a couple of really fashionable flip-flops for the ladies. You wouldn’t guess that the shimmery gold Delaney is a creation by Vans. With delicate straps and a sleek footbed, the Vans Delaney is ideal for the surf, sun and sand or for a more formal night out. Check out the Vans Delaney here.

Slim Vans Shoes for Women
While the classic Vans styles remain a favourite, sometimes us women want a sleeker, slimmer shoe to pair with little dresses or shorts. Fortunately, Vans has created a few styles that are made for the ladies. A couple of great options for lower, slimmer Vans shoes for women:
Authentic Lo Pro Vans. These are a fresh take on the classic Authentic lace-up shoe. Grab them in grape or ruby red for a perfect pair of summertime shoes.
While the Vans slip-ons are made to be thick and sturdy, the Vans KVD are a skinnier option that suits smaller feet.
Finally, Vans has just given us a sneak peek at a new line of women’s summer shoes for 2011, and the highlight is the slim Vans Cedar shoe. There are two unique styles of this ultra-low cut shoe, which is lined with a very thin layer of flannel, pretty much forcing you to skip the socks and go barefoot!
Featuring a lace-up silhouette, the best part of the Vans Cedar shoe: the colourful prints. One has a floral-covered print with rich rust, blue and brown petals and leaves. The other Vans Cedar shoe has cute little strawberries in a neat symmetrical pattern all over the canvas upper.

Vans x Andy Davis Shoes
One of Vans’ most recent collaborations is with the San Diego illustrator Andy Davis to release a limited line called Ando and Friends. The Ando and Friends line includes two cool t-shirt designs, a pair of sneakers and a pair of flip flops. The limited edition Vans x Andy Davis shoes come in both girls and guys styles, all bearing the surf-inspired designs inspired by Davis’ illustrations.
Andy Davis is a surf-inspired artist who has been creating unique artwork for years; he recently set up a website where people can purchase prints and originals and keep up with news on his work with artists and organisations like Thomas Campbell, the Surfrider Foundation and Patagonia.
Davis has this to say about his collaboration with Vans:
“My art is a daydream. I get lost in the process of painting and drawing; it is the only part of my life that has never had rules. Every person that sees my work has a different interpretation of the meaning and I like it that way.”
If you want to turn your feet into wearable art this summer, look for Vans x Andy Davis Shoe on store shelves now! Check out photos of this stylish surf pack created by Vans and Andy Davis here.

Vans Sneakers: Modern Twists on Old School Favourites
Vans is excellent at bringing back old school styles with a fresh, modern twist, and this season is no different. Every year we see a number of new releases from the Vans shoe company, mixed with a few tried-and-true classics that they re-introduce. Vans has redone the Authentic, the Era, and of course the Chuck Taylor, just to name a few.
This year, Vans is releasing an updated Old Skool sneaker, designed after the classic Mike Carrol shoe that was introduced in 1994. Vans has again partnered with Supreme, the popular apparel company out of New York, to create the line. The Vans Old Skool sneakers are available in three different colourways featuring the suede and mesh upper from the original. Vans fans can choose from basic black, light brown, or soft powder blue Old Skools. Check out photos.
Another blast from the past – the Authentic Vans sneaker. The Authentic has been redone dozens of ways, and remains one of the company’s best sellers. True to its name, the Authentic was an original back in the 60s when skateboarders and surfers were first discovering the iconic shoe with the waffle sole. The 2011 Authentic is the result of another collaboration, this time between Vans and the French company A.P.C. The two companies are also working on a new release of the Chukka, which we’ve seen in previous Vans collections. See photos.
