Boots for Summer? The Newest Fashion Trend
Seeing boots mixed in with summer shoes at your favourite Canadian shoe store may make you do a double take, but it’s just the latest trend in warm weather fashion for women. Summer boots appeared on the runways earlier this year, popping up everywhere from the Vivienne Westwood show to Burberry, Versace and Lacoste.
Summer boots go with a wide variety of different looks: floral-print dresses and skirts, white t-shirts and jeans, denim shorts, Bermuda shorts, and hot pants. These aren’t your wintery Uggs or faux fur-lined laceups. Summer boots are soft, lightweight and shorter than winter boots, available in colours like sand beige, rose and white. Summer boots have that well-worn look of your favourite leather jacket, and are often seen in canvas or cloths in Canadian shoe stores.
Keep the look casual and summery by not tucking your jeans into summer boots. Speaking of summer boots, have you seen the newest collaboration between Dr. Martens and Stussy? The Hambleton isn’t technically a boot style, but we’re used to seeing Docs in sturdier shoe or boot format, so this is a nice change.
It’s also perfectly acceptable to pair winter boots with your summer ensemble, like 14 or 20-eyelet Dr. Martens from Zelen Shoes, as long as you keep your outfit casual – think airy dresses or flowing skirts.
